Selection Process
Applications will be independently reviewed by multiple members of the IMPRS-TP. They will be chosen in a multi-step process based on the applicant's academic qualifications, aptitude, motivation, scientific background and recommendations. Selection is based on academic qualification, research experience, motivation, scientific background and the letters of recommendation.
The most promising applicants will be invited to Munich for interviews at the Max Planck Institute of Psychiatry.
Candidates will go on guided tours through the participating institutes and will have the opportunity to get to know each other, staff and the faculty members and to gain an impression of Munich.
Interviews at the Institute
On the first day, all recruiting faculty members will present themselves, their research field and PhD projects. Candidates will have the opportunity to talk to group leaders, in particular those which they named as preference in their application.
On the second or third day, invited candidates will have one 30-minute interview with the selection committee. After each interview, all members of the selection committee individually evaluate the candidate. At the end of the interviewing process, candidates will be asked to name one (or more) research group(s) that they would like to join for their PhD.
