Selection Process

Selection Process

Applications will be independently reviewed by multiple members of the IMPRS-TP. They will be chosen in a multi-step process based on the applicant's academic qualifications, aptitude, motivation, scientific background and recommendations. Selection is based on academic qualification, research experience, motivation, scientific background and the letters of recommendation.

The most promising applicants will be invited to for interviews online or in-person at the Max Planck Institute of Psychiatry.

If the interviews are conducted online, candidates that successfully clear the interview would be invited for one-on-one meetings with interested PIs to finalize a “match” between them and the faculty members interested in recruiting them. If these meeting are conducted in-person, the costs for this trip would be covered by IMPRS-TP. If the interviews are conducted in-person, all invited candidates will go on guided tours through the participating institutes and will have the opportunity to get to know staff, peers and the faculty members, and to gain an impression of Munich.

The interview results will be communicated at the earliest possible, latest in March 2024.  For those clearing the interview, a ‘matching process’ will follow to find a match between the applicant and a PI interested in recruiting them. Final selection and admissions into the program will be contingent on making a match and being offered a position in the lab of the interested PI after the matching process.
