Both neuroimaging and genetic data are possessed of very small effect sizes, and very high dimensions. When these data types are combined and analysed using conventional univariate methods, widely recognised statistical problems associated with these traits are compounded. Multivariate methods have shown promise in their potential to answer questions in psychiatry and neuroscience that univariate methods are not capable of answering.
