Course description:
This workshop will offer a series of lectures on the theoretical background of statistical genomics – with a focus on polygenic risk scores (PRS) and related constructs. Students will also present and discuss recent PRS papers.
Content:
- PRS – a historical perspective
- Early approaches of PRS
- Recent PRS approaches
- The concept of risk scores in other omics datasets
Learning outcomes:
This course provides an overview of basic statistical concepts used to construct of PRS. After this course, you should be able to critically evaluate published PRS papers and have a main idea of which steps are important to conduct a PRS calculation yourself.
About the trainer
Dr. Darina Czamara is a biostatistician who obtained her doctoral title at the LMU, Munich. Since 2014 she is leading the team “Translational Genomics” at the Max-Planck-Institute of Psychiatry and has been involved in a variety of omics studies and publications.
