Statistical Genomics 2
This workshop will offer a short series of lectures on the theoretical background of statistical genomics with a focus on the polygenic risk scores and related constructs. Students will be able to bring their own data or work with example data to get hands-on experience.
Lecturer: Bertram Müller-Myhsok
Topics that will be covered include in the lectures:
- Polygenic risk scores (PRS) – a historical perspective
- Early approaches of PRS
- Recent variants of PRS
- PRS, LDscore and heritability
- PRS as a proof-of-concept design for ultra strong targeted condensation of information
Practical parts will allow to perform relevant tasks on PRS as well as creating PRS using a variety of tools.
The workshop will be awarded with 1.5 ECTS.
