Statistical Genomics 2

This workshop will offer a short series of lectures on the theoretical background of statistical genomics with a focus on the polygenic risk scores and related constructs. Students will be able to bring their own data or work with example data to get hands-on experience.

Topics that will be covered include in the lectures: 

  • Polygenic risk scores (PRS) – a historical perspective
  • Early approaches of PRS
  • Recent variants of PRS
  • PRS, LDscore and heritability
  • PRS as a proof-of-concept design for ultra strong targeted condensation of information

Practical parts will allow to perform relevant tasks on PRS as well as creating PRS using a variety of tools.

The workshop will be awarded with 1.5 ECTS.
