Dr. Dominic Landgraf

Research Group Leader, Department of Psychiatry and Psychotherapy, LMU Munich

Main Focus

Our environment is characterized by the constant change between day and night. In the course of evolution, our body has adapted to these daily rhythms, with the result that all physiological processes are different during the day and the night. This process is controlled by so-called circadian clocks (endogenous ~ 24 hours rhythms). A disturbance of the circadian system has far-reaching effects on our health. Dr. Landgraf's research group investigates the causal connections between disturbed circadian clocks and the development of mental and metabolic disorders. The team uses different methodologies reaching from molecular biology to analysis of behavior in animals and humans.
